About Us

 

Laura Whitehead, Library Media Specialist

 

I have been a member of North Royalton Schools since 2007.  Prior to 2007 I was employed as a library media specialist and as a technology coordinator in two other Northeast Ohio School Districts.  I have lived in Ohio since 1991 and I grew up in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

 

I have received my Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.  My Masters is in Instructional Technology and Library Media from Kent State University.  I am currently attending Kent State University working toward obtaining my reading endorsement.

 

Our library mission is “To maximize student potential by providing tools, information, materials and support to foster a love of learning and to develop children’s individual abilities.”  We enjoy getting feedback from students on books they would like us to include in our collection and my favorite part of the day is working alongside students incorporating technology into their school projects.

 

On a personal note, I have been married 18 years and we have two daughters who are 15 and 14, my favorite age yet!  My girls and our school library club give me lots of feedback on how to improve the library from a student’s perspective which I enjoy hearing!
